They click on an excel file local or shared drive and Excel Opens to gray screen. They have to go back to the file and single click on it, then back to Excel and the file is displayed. Full screen simply gave me a full screen of gray and Ignore DDE means I wasn't able to open any excel.
This same file works normally on most PC's in out company. I am using excel under Windows 7. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks for the fix. I actually used this setup because i was using too many excel files in one window and wanted to open multiple sheets across diff windows but it caused me way more issues than it did to help.

I found that KerouacJack's suggestion put me on the right trajectory, however being a bit gun shy of making a lot of changes in the Trust Center settings, I only deselected "Enable Protected View for files originating from the Internet" in the Trust Center Protected views tab, and made no other changes.
When you try to open the downloaded spreadsheet, you do get the warning armandsalmon pasted in above, however this is EXACTLY the same behavior that I have been getting for years on Excel Just select "yes" and it opens just like Excel I don't consider this workaround, I consider it a problem solved.
